When I remember the weekend I spent in Uribe, I can't believe we did so many activities in such a short time. This region of Euskadi has the perfect conditions to enjoy outdoor life: good beaches with more than decent waves for the surf practice; steep cliffs where the wind helps those who want to try the paraglider; forests and mountains for which walk breathing clean air; and some towns that offer exquisite cuisine. What more can you ask?.
Other activities, somewhat less common, that we do in Uribe were:
Horseback riding in Butrón Castle
When I arrived riding in my large dark brown steed, called HemirAt the front door of the imposing Butrón Castle, I felt like a character in the series Game of Thrones. Too bad that those who accompanied me were not the best warriors of the Seven Kingdoms (Without missing the pleasant company I had at that time, huh?).
The company Equestrian Butrón It has a complex right next to the castle where people can rent a horse for a guided walk or, if they want to go further, learn to ride. We opted for the first option and were equipped with a helmet before assigning our steeds. The names of some of them - like Gandalf and Atreyu - predicted a fun ride.
When I told Dani (the guy who would guide us) that I had ridden a couple of times in my life, decided to assign me the biggest and most experienced horse of all. Hemir had a beautiful appearance, being the one who didn't measure up. The poor animal must have felt it, because sometimes I decided to take the initiative a little before my very clear equestrian inexperience.
We make a short route through the forests around the castle, parallel to the Butrón river. Butrón Castle It was built in the 15th century (history)
At the end of the route I said goodbye to the great Hemir and we went to meet the boys of the company Ocioaventura. We were going to feel the adrenaline of touring the mountains in 4 × 4.
